Multicultural Roundtable

The Multicultural Roundtable is composed of student leaders that represent each multicultural organization at Appalachian. This group meets once each month to discuss current issues, build stronger leadership skills, learn about resources at Appalachian and the community that will contribute to the success of their organizations, approve expenditures for student travel and for supporting campus events, and assist with other projects on behalf of the Office of Multicultural Student Development.

Multiculturalism is a perspective that creates opportunities for individuals to respond in positive ways to diverse identities through interaction and education.

Social Justice is defined as both a process and a goal. The goal of social justice is full and equal participation of all groups in a society that is mutually shaped to meet their needs. Social Justice transforms structures that perpetuate unequal distribution of social power. Social justice as a goal inclues a vision of society in which the distribution of resources is equitable and all members are physically and psychologically safe and secure.
